This work analyzes the shipping liners companies Marketing mix, identifying their policies regarding the services provided (“Product”); “Pricing” policies; “Promotion” actions and the distribution channels (“Place”), focusing on ocean liners carriers operating at Santos Port. The Santos Port, located in São Paulo state, Brazil southeastern region, is a multipurpose port, considered the main South America port and in 2005 it handled 2,267,921 TEUs, almost 38% of Brazilian total TEUs movement. The Santos Port itself was responsible for more than the total movement of the other three bigger Brazilian ports for TEUs traffic. In Brazil, as in other countries, the maritime transportation tends to be more and more specialized and it can be considered as a dynamic element for economic development, what enhances the shipping liner companies importance both for high aggregated value merchandises and for new ways for packaging and facilitating cargo handling. This is remarkable, when ocean liner carriers role is researched in international logistics chain, where interdependence among clients and suppliers has to be occurred in spite of distances and different legal constraints (time and money consumers).
